2015 Mendocino Chardonnay

Harvested on August 31, 2015 from very old vines - planted in 1944- this fruit is some of the oldest Chardonnay in California. Grown organically for as long as anyone can remember, the fruit comes in eager to please.

I foot tread the berries before pressing and following a cold settling the juice was allowed to ferment with it's own yeasts in stainless steel.

I racked it to 6 neutral barrels and one new French Dargaud & Jaegle. The secondary fermentation was left to finish in the barrels. Aged for 10 months, and bottled on August 1, 2016 to the delight of Ida and Edi.

The wine is medium bodied with bright acid that balances the new oak. It is clean with aromas of peaches, quince, and happiness.
